My husbands and mines anniversary is in October and every year we try to do something for it. This year we were blessed with the opportunity to get way for 5 days in Las Vegas. Now October is a tough time for us because it is right before we head into the holiday season. Plus being a larger family we have a budget to stick to. So I wanted to share with you how we were able to go to Las Vegas for 5 days on a budget.
#1. AVOID THE WEEKENDS
When we were booking our trip we were strategic about avoiding the weekend at all cost. We did arrive on a Sunday which is the weekends but the cost is similar to staying during a weekday. For our recent trip we were there Sunday thru Thursday.
#2. LOOK FOR A HOTEL OFF THE STRIP
During the week you can get better deals on the cost of rooms on the strip but to get the most bang for your buck be sure to stay off the strip. We chose to stay at the Hooters Hotel and Casino for our trip. We booked our room through Groupon, which gave us an additional savings. Which brings me to my next point
#3. LOOK ON DISCOUNT SITES FOR LODGING/SHOWS/FOOD
On Groupon we were able to get all 5 days and 4 nights for under $120! So do your research and looking at all the discount travel sites to see where the best deal is. There is deals for most things in Las Vegas so if there is something you really want to do see if you can find a deal.
#4. VISIT THE FREE ATTRACTIONS
We made use of our time and budget by checking out the free offerings in Las Vegas. Here is a few examples
THE HOOVER DAM
The Hoover Dam/Bridge is free to walk around and see. You can easily drive there from your hotel and spend a few hours enjoying the area. There are some tours available at the dam but they do cost, so plan according.
THE SHELBY MUSEUM
The Carol Shelby Museum is free and they have a free guided tour. If you or any of your guest are a car fanatics what better way to spend a few hours.
ThE WILDLIFE HABITAT AT THE FLAMINGO
I didn’t know about this until we were walking around the strip and came across the sign. We had been walking for a bit that day so we decided to stop in. It was so relaxing sitting there watching the flamingos and other animals. I say we spent a good hour just sitting there.
These are some of my tips to keep the cost down when traveling to Las Vegas or really anywhere. What is your top travel tip to save? Please share down below in the comments.
