Last Saturday we loaded the kids and in laws up and headed to a little orchard in a town about 1.5 hours away from us. We were going apple, peach and pear picking at Apple Annie’s in Wilcox, AZ. I have made the drive to Wilcox many times so the drive was nothing to fancy but my daughter had so much excitement. She couldn’t wait to be there and kept asking what we were going to do.
We followed the signs and got a little lost but we figured it out and finally arrived at our destination. We loaded out youngest in his stroller and headed into the orchard. Once we got in the gates we were greeted with the sweet smell of kettle corn, pies and donuts. A lovely employee handed us a map and explain how the process worked and where we could pick up all of our materials. We gathered our wagon, buckets, and apple pickers and set out. My daughter was so excited she went to the first tree she found and picked the first one she found.
The joy and excitement on her face made everything worth it. We spend a good hour picking apples and got some Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty, and Braeburn. We were also able to snag some Asian Pears. After we got all of our fruits picked we headed to Apple Annie’s Burger Barn and had hot dogs and hamburgers. Once lunch was done we paid and headed home to enjoy out treasures.
