I have been compensated by HICKIES for today’s post; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Parenthood is a mixture of trial and error. You try to teach your children the way you learned. Sometimes it works out, and other times it blows up in your face. I learned this while I was trying to teach my oldest son how to tie his shoes.
I spend weeks showing him how to loop, swoop, and pull. I googled different methods of tieing shoes. My husband even tried to show him the way he learned. It was all meet with tears, yelling, and unsuccessful attempts.
We finally decided that tieing was something that was not possible at this time for him. My oldest has autism, and sometimes he cannot process how to complete a task.
So we started the search and found Hickies. They are no tie shoelaces that replace traditional laces. My son is 9 and shoes in his size no longer come with velcro so we struggled to find shoes that he could use. Thanks to Hickies we no longer need to worry. If the shoe comes with laces, we can replace them. Hickies allows for that independence.
With Hickies, I know that even if he never learns to tie his shoes, he will still be able to put his own shoes on.
