Those of you following me on this journey may recall reading that we recently added one new member to our family. A sweet (and sassy!) Corgi and Australian Shepherd mix named Rusty. I’ll admit he was a surprise addition to our family, but we welcomed him with open arms. However, once we got Rusty home and settled, I knew I needed extra supplies. So I packed up and headed to the closest store to our house, Dollar General. Now, we live about 20 minutes outside of town in the suburbs. I must admit that having one so close to our house has made my life so much easier!
When I arrived, I walked around the store looking for the sign pointing to the aisle for dog food. Dollar General is fantastic! They make shopping so easy by having signs placed high up that are visible above the shelves. I knew exactly the brand of dog food I was looking for. Our last two dogs were exclusively fed Purina® Dog Chow®, we were certainly going to feed the same to Rusty. We choose to feed our pets this food for a few different reasons. One, we previously lived in a town where Purina was manufactured and as a family we appreciate the fact that it has been crafted in the USA since 1926. Another reason is that Purina® Dog Chow® has those 23 essential vitamins and minerals, which dogs need. After all, don’t our pets deserve the very best?
As I went to grab my bag off the shelf, I noticed the packaging had changed a bit from what I remembered, but honestly, I didn’t think much of it. I took my 20-lb bag of Purina® Dog Chow® (Complete Adult made with chicken) and I headed to the registers. Thank goodness the Dollar General by us always has two cashiers making checking out so fast and easy, especially if you’re a busy mom like me!
While paying, the cashier mentioned the Serving the Deserving Campaign , hence the different packaging. This is an exclusive collaboration between Purina® Dog Chow® and Dollar General. This is certainly a promotion that I hold very close to my heart, due to my strong family connection with members of our armed services. My brother and cousin are actively serving in the Armed Forces, in addition to 5 others who have served.
So, I have a question to ask all of you! Will you also purchase a bag before the promotion ends on Veteran’s Day? To learn more about how you can support the Serving the Deserving Campaign and how you can support our vets click here.
On October 10th at Dollar General consumers will receive an 11% savings on Dog Chow!

This is awesome! The fact that my ex husband is a purple heart vet and his dad is retired military means I’ll be supporting this cause as well! Thanks for sharing! Great pictures!
