So me and my husband decided to host a birthday party for my oldest who is turning 8 in a few days. We talked about having a party for a few weeks but decided one week before we were going to host. So that of course was an undertaking in a half. So here is our Minecraft party on a budget.
First up was our invitations. Here is the invitations I created in Photoshop. If you don’t have photoshop I have created a file for you to download for your own personal use.

Next I got started on how to decorate and turned to the wonderful world of Pinterest. That is where I found the idea for a creeper face out of plates.
I purchased the black places at Dollar Tree ($1 a pack) and the two shades of green from Party City ($3.49 a pack). I purchased 2 packs of each color and had plenty left over. The key is to make sure you buy the dessert plates and not the dinner plates.
Next I decided to keep the food simple to keep cost down. I decided to get with the themes of the items found in the world of Minecraft. I cam across these printable that Five In Six made and they worked perfectly for us. Click here to download them.
We decided on pizza as the main dish and it was such a hit I didn’t even get a photo of it before it was all gone.
Next was the decision of making a cake or cupcakes? My son decided he wanted cupcakes and I wanted them to fit the theme so I decided on making the top look like fire. So I purchased the Wilton Color Swirl 3-color Coupler ($3.99). It took some trial and error (I am no baker at all) but I think they came out pretty good.
Party favors which I didn’t get a photo of we decided that we wanted to keep them simple and decided on a single glow stick from the dollar tree. Find them here. We found them in the shapes of swords, axes and tridents. We Purchased them in the color green to go with the Minecraft theme.
I hope you enjoyed my Minecraft party on a budget and I can’t wait to share more parties with you.
