Let me be the first to say I love most things from the Hispanic food categories. I will eat the candy, food, and seasonings before traditional American food. It drives my husband nuts because I can eat tacos all day every day and never get sick of them. I have a strong love for the Tajin seasoning, but who doesn’t right? I remember as a kid they sold this item called Lucas. They no longer sell all the flavors, they did during my childhood because it contained lead. When they go rid of the traditional Lucas I was upset because I used it all the time. Well Tajin has almost the same flavor as the original Lucas without the lead. When I was a child I would eat this snack that compiled of fruits, Saladitos, and Lucas. I decided to make my own with the Tajin and I was amazing how much it tasted like the snack I had a kid. I decided I would share my recipe with you all.
Ingredients: [These are the main fruits I use, but you can choose any you like]
Apples – any kind [I personally think that granny smith apples work the best]
Oranges
Grapefruit
Pineapple
1-2 Limes
Saladitos
Tajin Seasoning
Directions:
Wash and cut up your fruit and place them in a mixing bowl. Squeeze your limes over the cut up fruit and mix it together. Next, take your Tajin and sprinkle as much as you would like on the fruit. Last toss in some Saladitos and it’s now ready to eat. DIG IN!
[I have found the mixture taste better after sitting in the fridge for 2-3 hours – in my opinion]
